It was too bad that Blue Microphone had their booth way in the back of the Las Vegas Convention Center at CES. There were probably many that missed out on two of their newest and great products, the Mikey and the EyeBall.

The Mikey is an audio recording microphone that is designed to fit into the end of an iPod 4G, 5G, 6G, iPod Nano 2G, 3G, and iPod classic. It has three selectable microphone positions, as well as a built-in speaker for playback. The Mikey is capable of recording from up to 40 feet, which is perfect for college lectures.

The Eyeball is an excellent webcam that has a silver ball-shaped speaker with a pop-out webcam capable of recording HD quality video. The pop-out feature insures privacy as when the lens is out of sight, and is out of your mind. No more accidentally getting yourself caught on online film because you left your camera on.

The Eyeball and Mikey are just two of Blue Microphones’ fantastic products, as they are the designers of the Snowball, an award-winning product and number one selling condenser microphone.

Further evidence of the upcoming iPod touch and iPod nano camera refresh is spilling uncontrollably out of China, with multiple different cases being hawked with the new PMPs dimensions and capabilities.  Cult of Mac have been collating the various silicon and hard-plastic cases and sleeves, each of which show a centrally-positioned camera for the iPod touch 3G and a lower left-hand camera for the iPod nano 5G.

The iPod nano 5G also has a larger display, again conforming to earlier rumors, seemingly changing from the 1.33:1 aspect ratio of the current model to a 1.5:1 panel.  This will allow for better framing of shots; the click wheel also gets smaller, and moves further down the body of the PMP.

The Chinese manufacturers of the cases are claiming to have “double-checked” the dimensions – which they say they first received in May this year – and to be already preparing factory molds so as to be prepared for mass production.  Apple are expected to announce the new iPods at an event in September, though it’s unclear whether the iPod nano 5G will be able to record video as is expected of the iPod touch 3G.

This, according to iLounge’s trusted tipster, is pretty much what the fifth-generation iPod nano will look like.  No touchscreen interface, but the display does get an aspect change; there’s also said to be a camera on the back and a smaller control wheel.

The screen gets wider (when held horizontally) to 1.5:1 aspect, from the current fourth-gen nano’s 1.33:1, which should reduce black-bars when watching widescreen content.  As for the scroll-wheel, that’s shifted down the body to accommodate the bigger display, and the whole thing has a smaller diameter and more compact center-button.

On the back, meanwhile, there’s a camera of unspecified resolution; it’s likely to be covered up when the iPod nano is held in portrait orientation, but flip it to landscape and hold the PMP as you would a standard camera and it’ll be more useful.  According to their source, the fifth-gen iPod nano will debut sometime between July and September (likely later rather than sooner) at the same time as a refreshed iPod touch.

As for the iPhone, iLounge have been informed that there’ll be no less than six versions of the third-gen model, three models each with two storage options.  As well as a standard 3G (e.g. 3.5G HSDPA) there’ll be an “enhanced 3G” version (likely faster HSPA), plus a mainland China version that looks like the existing phone and comes in scratch-resistant matte plastic.  The models will be tailored to different networks in different locations, so consumers won’t have a choice between, say, the two 3G handsets.
