It was too bad that Blue Microphone had their booth way in the back of the Las Vegas Convention Center at CES. There were probably many that missed out on two of their newest and great products, the Mikey and the EyeBall.

The Mikey is an audio recording microphone that is designed to fit into the end of an iPod 4G, 5G, 6G, iPod Nano 2G, 3G, and iPod classic. It has three selectable microphone positions, as well as a built-in speaker for playback. The Mikey is capable of recording from up to 40 feet, which is perfect for college lectures.

The Eyeball is an excellent webcam that has a silver ball-shaped speaker with a pop-out webcam capable of recording HD quality video. The pop-out feature insures privacy as when the lens is out of sight, and is out of your mind. No more accidentally getting yourself caught on online film because you left your camera on.

The Eyeball and Mikey are just two of Blue Microphones’ fantastic products, as they are the designers of the Snowball, an award-winning product and number one selling condenser microphone.

Further evidence of the upcoming iPod touch and iPod nano camera refresh is spilling uncontrollably out of China, with multiple different cases being hawked with the new PMPs dimensions and capabilities.  Cult of Mac have been collating the various silicon and hard-plastic cases and sleeves, each of which show a centrally-positioned camera for the iPod touch 3G and a lower left-hand camera for the iPod nano 5G.

The iPod nano 5G also has a larger display, again conforming to earlier rumors, seemingly changing from the 1.33:1 aspect ratio of the current model to a 1.5:1 panel.  This will allow for better framing of shots; the click wheel also gets smaller, and moves further down the body of the PMP.

The Chinese manufacturers of the cases are claiming to have “double-checked” the dimensions – which they say they first received in May this year – and to be already preparing factory molds so as to be prepared for mass production.  Apple are expected to announce the new iPods at an event in September, though it’s unclear whether the iPod nano 5G will be able to record video as is expected of the iPod touch 3G.

This, according to iLounge’s trusted tipster, is pretty much what the fifth-generation iPod nano will look like.  No touchscreen interface, but the display does get an aspect change; there’s also said to be a camera on the back and a smaller control wheel.

More details, plus next-gen iPhone leaks, after the cut

The screen gets wider (when held horizontally) to 1.5:1 aspect, from the current fourth-gen nano’s 1.33:1, which should reduce black-bars when watching widescreen content.  As for the scroll-wheel, that’s shifted down the body to accommodate the bigger display, and the whole thing has a smaller diameter and more compact center-button.

On the back, meanwhile, there’s a camera of unspecified resolution; it’s likely to be covered up when the iPod nano is held in portrait orientation, but flip it to landscape and hold the PMP as you would a standard camera and it’ll be more useful.  According to their source, the fifth-gen iPod nano will debut sometime between July and September (likely later rather than sooner) at the same time as a refreshed iPod touch.

As for the iPhone, iLounge have been informed that there’ll be no less than six versions of the third-gen model, three models each with two storage options.  As well as a standard 3G (e.g. 3.5G HSDPA) there’ll be an “enhanced 3G” version (likely faster HSPA), plus a mainland China version that looks like the existing phone and comes in scratch-resistant matte plastic.  The models will be tailored to different networks in different locations, so consumers won’t have a choice between, say, the two 3G handsets.

The ipod nano it's more likely to a cellphone already.

We have a iPod Nano review for you to check out now, courtesy of Cnet. The new 5G Nano was announced and unveiled at yesterday’s Apple event, with Cnet eager to give you their thoughts on the new device.

They have titled their review, ”iPod Nano 5G: the good, bad and ugly” - for good reasons. This is mainly down to the fact that the iPod Nano will be the only Apple iPod device to feature a video camera, and not the iPod Touch that many hoped.

They talk about the good things in the bigger 2.2-inch screen, but point out that the iPod Nano remains pretty much the same as the previous version, except for a small price cut.

Having said that, one handy new feature of the Nano is the fact that it contains an internal speaker, as well as an FM radio. Cnet confirms that the speaker will not work on the FM Radio though, so you’ll need headphones to make use of that.

To hear more on the rest of the features such as the pedometer, genius mixes and video quality, head over to Cnet for the full review.

The New iPod Nano 5G has a pretty good set of features.

Apple slips a camcorder into the same sharp iPod nano shell, adding new features and taking on the popular Flip camcorders with the Apple iPod nano 5G.

At an invitation-only event in San Francisco today, Apple officially announced their next-generation iPod nano player. The 5th generation nano, the Apple iPod nano 5G, will be the first Apple iPod to ship with a video camera on board. Apple took square aim at Flip Video in their announcement, pointing out that the new video recording iPod nano 5G will cost $150, the same as an entry level Flip camcorder, for a 8GB model and $180 for a 16GB iPod with video recording capabilities. Though rumors pegged the iPod touch for a video camera upgrade, it was only the new iPod nano that stormed the mini video recorder battlefield.

The new Apple iPod nano 5G shoots video at VGA resolution, a step down from the Pure Digital Flip's best cameras, which can shoot in HD. Still, Apple managed to fit the new video player, along with some other new technology, into the same sharp, slim shell as the last-generation iPod nano device. The new iPod features not only a video camcorder and microphone built-in, it also features an FM radio and a pedometer on board, both firsts for the iPod family. The display on the new iPod nano 5G is stretched just a bit to 2.2-inches, and the exterior gets a nice polished anodized aluminum look, which gives a glossy sheen to the brightly colored devices.

We got our hands-on the new iPod nano 5G, and on the iPod's small screen, video looked very good. If you hold the center button, you can choose from a few basic effects for video recording, including a Sepia tone and a reverse-color X-Ray mode. We can imagine Apple expanding this feature to include more special effects in future software updates.

The video recording on the iPod nano is still very simple, as we saw in our hands-on time with the device. There's no advanced method for reducing shake or motion while shooting, which we think will be the next big thing for these pocket-sized camcorder devices. Also, as we mentioned, there's no HD video recording. Perhaps this would be a better addition for the iPod touch, which uses a much larger hard drive than the smaller iPod nano 5G.

In addition to the new video recording features, Apple also uses the pedometer in the iPod nano 5G to link with Nike's online exercise tracking services. Just plug in your iPod nano 5G to iTunes and it will give you feedback for your workout. With the new microphone for the camcorder, the iPod nano will also let users record voice memos without an external microphone.

The new Apple iPod nano 5G and the movies it records are compatible with both PCs and Macintosh computers, and both systems will be able to clip, send and edit movies recorded from the device. The iPod nano 5G is available today in a slew of shiny new colors.

The ipod nano 5g really looks impressive. I wonder when I can get one.

During Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPod event in San Francisco, Steve Jobs took the stage, marking the renowned CEO's first public appearance since he returned from medical leave after receiving a liver transplant. Jobs, whose presence was debated heavily by analysts, unveiled a new operating system for the iPod and a new online iTunes store, called iTunes9. He applauded the iPod's achievement of selling 30 million devices in just over two years and added that there were now 100 million iTunes accounts all with registered credit cards. Regarding the iPod shuffle, Apple is lowering the price to a more affordable $59 for 2GB and adding colors. Jobs also announced that the iPod nano will now have a video camera on the back, VoiceOver, FM Radio, pedometer, a larger 2.2-inch display, an integrated mic and a speaker as well.
